From a residents' family - Craghall

“My mum has come on so well at Craghall and is a very different and happier person than when she went in.” - Gwen Lunn

After the death of her son, aged just 51, Ellen Dodd’s health deteriorated. Already suffering from Alzheimers and after a spell in hospital, she could not longer stay in her home.

Ellen’s daughter, Gwen Lunn, began looking for homes near to where she lived in Jesmond and says after visiting Craghall, “there was no contest”.

Ellen moved into Craghall in June 2010 and has never looked back.

Gwen says: “The first thing I noticed about Craghall when I visited was that unlike other homes I had been too, there was no smell and everything was so clean.

“Mum settled at Craghall straight away and she is always saying how much she loves it and how she enjoys activities such as dancing and sing-a-longs.

“I particularly like the personal touches that happen in the home. For example, my mum likes the pet rabbit that lives outside, so the home got her a goldfish for her room.

“The staff are wonderful and always attentive to the needs of the residents.
